Dave at Lyden Hill 1997            Team Vespa Line Up 1992 - Langbaugh

Tamworth Scooter Club has had a regular Scooter Racer (David Delaney) since 1991 competing on a 139cc SS90 for Team Vespa (Norrie Kerr fame). After being many times a runner up in the Group 3 upto 160cc standards class, Dave decided to challenge on the same machine in the Group 5 upto 160cc specials class, winning the class championship three years in sucession '98, '99 & 2000.

Rule changes regards class engine capacity allowed David to take the same small frame Vespa and compete in the Group 4 upto 210cc standards class. This, the largest participating class, predominately Lambretta powered and all with far greater bhp did not deter him. Riding the pants of his ported, standard barrelled SS90, along with it's superior handling, gained him second overall in the 2002 Class Championship beating many a tuned Lambretta on the way !

2004 saw a second Club member, David's son Damon, take to the circuit on a Delooney tuned SS90.

Damon battled hard all season on the little Vespa gaining  'Best Young Rider of  2004' award for his efforts !

For the 2005 season Damon swapped to one of the highly rated automatic 70cc machines. Over 20bhp & topping 90mph, these things are awesome !
