           From the Beginning...

Mod's or later Scooterists, have both been present in Tamworth since the late 1970's. However, it was in the early 80's after the release of the cult film 'Quadrophenia' that the Tamworth Scooter scene really took off. Some of the early Clubs to emerge were the B5000 and Atomic Shit Blasters.

Then, in the mid 80's the B5000 Scooter Club , based just on the outskirts of Tamworth in a village called Polesworth (the club has recently re-formed) held regular doo's at the venue known then as the Top Club. This was a regular disco and at the time brought all Tamworth & surrounding Scooterists together.

A local Band 'The Dream Factory' started gigging around this time and soon found a following of dedicated scooterists. They performed at venues all over the country and even on some scooter rallies.

Edwin Starr 'God Bless his 00Soul', was also a Tamworth resident and could be seen regularly in the town centre record stores or usually driving around in his Rolls Royce.

Tamworth Scooter Club originally came about in the late 1990's. It was a joint idea of many Tamworth scooterist new and old, past clubs and present ! It was an attempt to bring all Tamworth scooterists together as one club and at it's peak 25 plus scooters were regularly attending the weekly meets at the Castle Grounds. But, as the millenium came and went so did some of it's memebers, most returning to there original circle of friends and familiar social gatherings.

We also go by our pseudo name 'Coastal Trippers'. This is in recognition of one of Tamworth's earliest custom scooters, a finely painted Lambretta.

Although not a big Club, we offer a large diversity of the scooter scene, details of which can be found in this website, enjoy !!!
